Nestled outside of Oaxaca, the agave plant that produces mezcal is grown. It often takes 7 to 9 years before the plants are ready to be harvested and transformed into a delicious, fragrant liquor.

Embarking on a December adventure to Mexico was a soul-stirring experience, filled with the thrill of discovery. As a wedding photographer based in Idaho, my lens is often focused on capturing the essence of laid-back, adventurous couples who appreciate the creative and unique. This trip to Mexico City and Oaxaca not only fueled my passion for photography but also allowed me to savor the wonders of a vibrant culture.

In Mexico City, we delved into the past at the National Anthropology Museum, immersing ourselves in the rich history of this diverse country. The juxtaposition of ancient artifacts against the backdrop of modernity was a visual feast, inspiring creativity that I couldn't wait to bring back to my work.

Strolling down the oldest street in North America, every cobblestone seemed to whisper tales of centuries gone by. The sinking of downtown Mexico City, a surreal phenomenon caused by the city's unstable foundation, added an unexpected twist to our exploration. These moments of awe were a perfect embodiment of the wonder I seek in both my travels and photography.

Oaxaca, with its old-world markets and the archaeological marvel of Monte Alban, provided a canvas of colors and textures that ignited my artistic sensibilities. The sunsets lit the valley with streams of pinks, purples, and blues setting the sky on fire. Each frame captured the spirit of a place steeped in tradition and authenticity, a reflection of the kind of genuine connection my ideal couples value.

Huge thanks to my mom and dad who made this trip happen, while we reveled in the history of Meso-America and enjoyed world-class vegan cuisine, a delightful surprise in every dish that showcased the country's culinary mastery.
